The first gameplay footage of Resident Evil: Revelations features the master of unlocking herself.
Resident Evil: Revelations is said to run on a modified version of the engine used for Resident Evil 5, which has fueled rumors that it’ll look pretty good in addition to being in 3D. Thanks to Japanese television show MXTV, we now have our first glance at Revelations in action.
Indeed, it looks pretty good. MXTV was evidently taping at the Japanese Nintendo Conference that took place last month where Nintendo announced the 3DS release date. For some reason, this footage hasn’t been taken down.
When the camera pans in close to Revelations, it’s hard to tell how the graphics appear due to the 3D blurring effect, but it looks at least as good as a PlayStation 2 game to me. Jill Valentine is shown roaming around a few hallways and getting frightened by what look like giant rats or raccoons popping out of a vent. I’m sure that’s much scarier in 3D.
Later, Jill encounters big, tentacle-faced zombies that are freakier than the basic variety seen in other Resident Evil games. The trailer for Revelations shows Jill and other franchise star Chris Redfield engaged in some kind of dispute over a captive man, so both characters will definitely be in the game, but Jill is the only confirmed playable character for now thanks to this video.
MXTV also got footage of 3DS games like Nintendogs + Cats, which basically looks just like Nintendogs, and the 3DS remake of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. If you’d like to see how the upgraded version of Ocarina of Time looks on the 3DS, the footage is below.
