Pitch a Perfect Game, Win a Million Bucks With MLB 2K11

This article is over 13 years old and may contain outdated information

2K Sports has another $1 million to give away to the first person who can pitch a perfect game in the upcoming Major League Baseball 2K11.

Either 2K Sports is a glutton for punishment or this promo worked out a lot better than it appeared to when it was rolled out last year with the launch of Major League Baseball 2K10. At the time, 2K seemed confident that the game’s amazing, lifelike pitching and hitting mechanics would keep virtual hurlers busy for days, if not weeks, but as it turned out the challenge was met almost immediately when Wade McGilberry fired a no-no on the very first day of the contest.

But that hasn’t dissuaded 2K from putting up another cool million for the first person to accomplish the feat in MLB 2K11. In fact, the company has actually widened the field of contestants by opening the contest to gamers as young as 13, although I imagine there will be some kind of restriction in place to keep 2K from forking over a seven-figure check to a junior high student.

Otherwise, all the usual rules and regulations are in effect: the contest is open to legal residents of the U.S. minus a half-dozen or so states that hate baseball, and must be played on either the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 version of the game. More details will be forthcoming but you can get the lowdown as it stands now at 2ksports.com/perfectgame. The race to perfection begins on Major League Baseball’s Opening Day, April 1, while Major League Baseball 2K11 comes out on March 8 for the aforementioned two systems as well as the PC, Wii, PS2 and PSP.
