PC and PS3 Hook Up Thanks to Steam

Valve’s Jeep Barnett says that the release of Steam on the PS3 has brought “two universes together,” and given gamers more choice when it comes to which platform they want to play on. While the cross platform functionality is limited at the moment, Barnett thinks it’s only a matter of time before some of Steam’s other features make their way to consoles. (Link)

PSN Mysteriously Goes Down

PSN, the PS3’s online service, has been experiencing some performance issues over the last few days and Sony isn’t being especially forthcoming with why that is. Some have blamed hacktivist group Anonymous, although at least one Anonymous faction has denied any responsibility for the attack. Whatever is going on, Sony says PSN could be out of action for days yet. (Link)

Siberian Man Makes Delicious Alien

A Russian prankster found himself in hot water after a video of involving an alien corpse he’d made from chicken and bread brought the police to his door. The editor of the Kamensk-Info paper saw the video that man had made and fearing that it might be a dead child, called the cops. It didn’t take long for them to track the man down, where he quickly explained it had all been a hoax. Hit the link for a video. (Link)

Teacher Gives Student a Portal Day

After a sudden and unexpected spate of sickness – sickness that coincided with the release of Portal 2 – a teacher decided to cancel class rather than put up with any more “sick” students. The teacher wasn’t about to give his or her students an extra vacation day however, as they will have to make the time up. Still, that’s a small price to pay for getting to play Portal 2 all day, right? (Link)

Superman Returns Director Admits Mistakes

Bryan Singer, the director of Superman Returns, has admitted that he made a few mistakes with the movie. He said that he was proud of the film, but that if he had to make it again, he would turn the dial down on the romance, and turn it up on the action. He also said that he would ditch some of the religion-inspired imagery, which he said had been a little too heavy for a summer blockbuster.(Link)
