It looks like the sequel to Wet, the 2009 third-person action game from A2M and Bethesda, won’t be happening.
Wet wasn’t exactly a huge hit when it came out in September 2009, ringing up a flat 70 at Metacritic. 1Up rated the game a paltry 67/100, writing, “Wet has the making of a universe I’d like to revisit, but I’d want to see the same amount of polish that’s been afforded to the wrappings in a follow-up.” And despite the muted reaction, a follow-up was indeed planned. “Wet 2 (multi-platform), Naughty Bear 2 (multi-platform), Doritos Crash Course (XBLA) as well as Rango (multi-platform), which was announced by EA and Paramount Digital Entertainment on November 4th, are all currently in development at Behaviour,” Senior Vice President of Business Development Jamie Leece said in November 2010.
Not a whole lot of ambiguity there, but it would appear that the situation has changed somewhat between then and now. A LinkedIn profile belonging to Ian Cormier, a technical artist at EA Montreal who previously served as a 3D artist and lead technical artist at A2M/Behaviour Interactive, lists among his credits Wet 2 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 but notes that it has been canceled. Another profile belonging to a current Behaviour Interactive programmer also mentions Wet 2 but categorizes it as a “past project.”
According to Siliconera, “a number” of Behaviour Interactive employees who had been working on Wet 2 left the company in March and April of this year for jobs with other studios.
