A new collection of six indie games marks the arrival of spring.
Tired of talking about Kickstarter? Then let’s talk about cheap indie game compilations instead, specifically the Indie Royale Spring Bundle, a collection of six games that I’ve honestly never heard of at one ridiculously low price. You probably already know how the Indie Royale rolls but for those who’ve been living under a rock, it’s a simple concept. You get six games on the serious cheap, but if you pay more than the minimum you score some bonus karma by pushing the price down for those who buy it later.
On the menu this week is the unique tower defense game Unstoppable Gorg, the action-RPG Depths of Peril, retro-platformer Tobe’s Vertical Adventure, the “twin-stick action-RPG” Inferno+, the puzzle game Slydris and the twin-stick arcade shooter Ballistic. As an added bonus, the Spring Bundle comes with the original soundtrack of the iOS game Tobe & Friends Hookshot Escape and anyone who spends $5 or more [or the equivalent in whatever weird, glow-in-the-dark dinosaur bones currency your country may use] will also get the Danimal Cannon chiptune album Roots.
Don’t let the fact that I’m not familiar with these games dissuade you from giving them a shot, because they actually look very solid. And let’s face it, six games plus a couple of soundtracks for five bucks is a pretty sweet deal under just about any circumstances. All games are available for both Windows and Mac except the PC-exclusive Tobe’s Vertical Adventure and come on Steam and/or Desura depending on availability. The Indie Royale Spring Bundle will be on sale until the morning hours of April 25, so if you’ve got a fiver to spare and a need for some games, indieroyale.com is the place you want to be.
