Capcom is pushing out Street Fighter X Tekken’s on-disk roster upgrade way ahead of schedule.
Street Fighter X Tekken‘s much-debated on-disk “DLC” was supposed to go on sale shortly after the launch of the Vita port due this fall. Now it seems the content, which includes 12 new characters for $19.99 (1600 MS points), will be hitting the market on July 31st.
The DLC adds Blanka, Cody, Dudley, Elena, Guy and Sakura from Street Fighter and Alisa Bosconovitch, Bryan Fury, Christie Monteiro, Jack-X, Lars Alexandersson and Lei Wulong from Tekken, upping the game’s roster to 50 characters total.
The Vita version of the game comes with all the aforementioned characters as well as a handful of exclusive ones. The first run of all retail copies come with two download codes – one allows players to transfer DLC content to a PS3 copy of the game and the second unlocks a set of alternative costumes for the non-DLC roster.
Capcom hasn’t mentioned why it’s pushing the DLC launch forward, but it could have something to do with the game’s relatively poor sales performance given its franchise pedigree, a lackluster response from the fighting game community, or the fact hackers managed to access the 12 “DLC” characters shortly after launch.
