Microsoft’s next generation console could be getting internet phone service support.

Microsoft hasn’t even officially announced the successor to the Xbox 360 yet, but that hasn’t stopped the rumors about the next-gen console from flying fast and loose. A recent Microsoft job listing hints at another potential next-gen Xbox feature: Skype support.

According to the listing, Microsoft is looking for a UI Designer and Prototyper for Skype, which was acquired by the publisher in 2011. The designer will be tasked with utilizing Skype on “next-gen Xbox and consumer electronics,” with the development team “responsible for Skype in the living room… but with a focus on the large screen and the next generation of Xbox.” The listing states that the UI Designer will be working directly with the Xbox team in Redmond, making it seem even more likely that Skype is going to be a feature of Microsoft’s next gaming system.

It’s not a stretch to think that gamers will be able to use Skype on next-gen Microsoft consoles, since the publisher previously stated its intentions to incorporate the service across all of its platforms, including the Xbox. Of course, this will remain unconfirmed until the publisher actually gets around to announcing its next-gen console.
