Zombie Army Threatens Mann vs Machine‘s Halloween

Team Fortress 2 offers two new Halloween achievements, for those willing to battle a wizard’s ghost.

It wouldn’t be Halloween without Team Fortress 2 nuttiness, and Soldier has done his best to make sure things go off with a bang. He ticked off necromantic Merasmus – “the scream on the lips of children”, if you believe the hype – and now the wizard’s out for Revenge. Armed with the Bombnomicon, and one or two other nasty abilities, he’s going to make life hell for the Mercs.

The ghoulishness in Team Fortress 2‘s co-op mode Mann vs Machine goes one step further, replacing the usual robot hordes with an army of the undead. “How many zombies?” Valve asks. “How does 666 sound, fear friends? Because it sounds like a candy-ass pile of crap to us!” So Valve plunked in more than 800 deadfellas and pointed them in your direction. Valve still calls the level Wave 666 because the number sounds badass, but don’t bring your calculator to this event; you’ll just get confused.

Two new achievements are available for Team Fortress 2: Wizards Never Prosper, and A Lovely Vacation Spot. You get the second one just for showing up on Skull Island, but the first will be tricky, as you’ll have to kill Merasmus to get it. There’s all sorts of new abilities too, from ghost-summoning to flaming footsteps, and the Wheel of Fate will make things deliciously difficult for players when they get to the Control Point …

The festivities kick off on October 26th, and last through November 8th. Good luck! You’ll need it.
