Martian Manhunter’s release will also be accompanied by a brand new John Stewart skin for Green Lantern.
First, there was the revelation of new Street Fighter IV characters, now NetherRealm has also used this year’s Evo fighting tournament to announce that Injustice: Gods Among Us will be getting a new character DLC in the form of alien crime fighter Martian Manhunter. The character was previously teased during a reveal of Mortal Kombat’s Scorpion. A brand new John Stewart skin for the Green Lantern, complete with all-new voice acting, will be released together with the Martian Manhunter DLC.
Martian Manhunter will join General Zod, Lobo, Batgirl and Scorpion as the 5th DLC character for the game. Manhunter’s popularity was apparently so great, that when developer NetherRealm first polled fans about who they wanted to see added as a DLC character, they didn’t even include Manhunter on the list, because they were worried he would completely dominate the polls.
Martian Manhunter, alter ego “J’onn J’onzz”, is a green-skinned alien from the planet Mars, who is pulled to earth by an experimental teleportation beam. Being stranded billions of miles away from his home planet, J’onn does what any other self-respecting Martian would do, and decides to become a crime fighter while waiting for his people to invent the technology to bring him home. Various iterations of the Manhunter have shown him possessing, telepathy, shape-shifting, projecting energy, x-ray vision, phasing, invisibility, flight, and super strength.
The trailer shows Manhunter and the new John Stewart Green Lantern duking it out, and showing off Manhunter’s special abilities. No further details, including pricing or release date were offered, but previous Injustice character were sold for around $5, so we can probably assume similar pricing.
