The beleaguered horror game gets a second go at the crowdsourcing trough.
Back in May, Precursor Games attempted to Kickstart the episodic horror game Shadow of the Eternals, a spiritual successor to the classic Eternal Darkness. However, ties to the controversial Denis Dyack and a developer arrested for child pornography quickly sunk its funding efforts. After taking a step back and rethinking its plans, Precursor Games is going to give it another go and launch a second Kickstarter on July 25th.
“Your feedback has been instrumental in many ways throughout the process of creating the new campaign”, Precursor CEO Paul Caporicci announced on the official site. Back when Precursor halted its original efforts, Caporicci said that it would return with a “host of new exciting opportunities that will make the game better than we envisioned”. Presumably, those new details will come out on July 25th when the new campaign starts.
It’s been over a decade since Silicon Knights released Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem on the Gamecube. Composed largely of ex-Silicon Knights developers, Precursor games aims to develop the episodic game for the PC and WiiU.
