Dead Rising 3 Trailer Fixes It With Duct Tape

This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

Dead Rising 3‘s latest CG trailer shows that it hasn’t quite sacrificed the game’s quirky humor for the sake of gritty realism.

When Dead Rising 3, the latest installment in Capcom’s Zombie sandbox series, was revealed, Microsoft told us it had gone for a more “serious” approach. The latest CG trailer shows that it may not be quite as serious as we had initially expected, showing that the trademark outlandish Dead Rising humor is still prevalent.

The trailer shows new hero Nick Ramos getting into a bit of a sticky situation, being rescued by newcomer Annie, showing off his duct-tape fu, encountering a zombie that can use a shotgun, and finally… well, let’s just say he uses his mechanic skills to produce a thing of beauty and magnificence.

It’s all in CGI, but it does offer a glimpse at the way we will be able to create custom weapons and vehicles in the game, as well as some of the game’s new zombie types. Dead Rising 3 will reportedly be larger than both previous games combined, will allow players to create weapons on-the-fly instead of having to visit a workbench, and apparently has no loading screens.

It was previously revealed that the love-it-or-hate-it feature of the previous games: the “race against the clock,” won’t feature in Dead Rising 3, in a move that the developer says allows players to take their time exploring the game’s world.

Dead Rising 3 is an Xbox One exclusive, and is shaping up to be one of, if not the definitive launch title for the system when it launches in November.
