Elder Scrolls Online Interactive Map Offers a Tour of Tamriel

Elder Scrolls Online interactive map

The Elder Scrolls Online spans most of Tamriel, so it might be time to start brushing up on your geography.

The Elder Scrolls Online looks like a pretty big game, if you weren’t aware. Playable regions include every province of the continent, a scale that hasn’t been attempted since The Elder Scrolls: Arena. That’s an awful lot of lore – but don’t worry, Zenimax Online Studios has a nifty map to help you get acquainted with the locales before you dive into the game. A new interactive tool on the game’s official website lets you explore a few regions and discover dozens of lore entries, screenshots, and illustrations.

Fans of the series will probably be most interested in the Ebonheart Pact’s regions, since we recently explored that corner of Tamriel in Skyrim and Morrowind. It’s good to see that the atmosphere of those regions is spot on: the Nords are just as headstrong as ever, and the Dunmer journals show that worship of ancestors and the Tribunal is a major part of their culture (to the annoyance of their allies).

The map is well worth exploring, if not just to see the inter-cultural relationships of each of The Elder Scrolls Online‘s three factions. None of the provinces get along terribly well, and series fans will get a kick from reading what each region’s citizens think of their new “allies.”

The Elder Scrolls Online is currently in closed beta, with a full release set for spring 2014.
