Want an update that reduces the size of all other patches? Oh good.
Guerrilla Cambridge’s Killzone Mercenary is about due for an update, and Guerrilla popped its head above cover long enough to say there are three of them on the way over the next few months. Then some spoilsport took a shot at it, but not before it had time to blurt out ‘free multiplayer maps!’
One update is expected right about now, while the others will arrive in January, and sometime after January. The current update doesn’t do much, but it does reduce the size of all other patches, thus freeing up 800MB of space. January’s update improves matching, helps reduce join-game connectivity problems, and adds an auto team-rebalancing feature.
But that third update, the one due at some unspecified time after January, is the big one. That update includes two new multiplayer maps, free of charge, and the official Botzone for Mercenary and Guerrilla Warfare. There’s also some wild talk about an update after that, but details are sketchy. Put it this way: if you’ve ever wanted to play Killzone Mercenary on Vita TV, and the functionality is available in your territory, you may just get your wish.
