Band of Thieves and 1000 Pokemon is a downloadable title in which you collect Pokemon from nearby users via StreetPass.
StreetPass was one of the hidden gems of the 3DS, with the feature proving to be so popular that Nintendo actually produced a full suite of games for it. Now, it looks like a Pokemon-themed StreetPass game is heading to the 3DS, and better yet, it will be completely free. Band of Thieves and 1000 Pokemon, revealed by Serebii in the latest edition of CoroCoro magazine will be a downloadable title in which you collect Pokemon from nearby users via StreetPass, and then take them into battle.
Not too much is known about the game, just what we’ve managed to gather from the single Japanese magazine scan you’ll see to the left. Basically, you’ll collect “sticker” versions of Pokemon, and have them battle… something, possibly akin to how the Find Mii StreetPass title currently works. You’ll also be able to get a special Pikachu for your Pokemon X and Y game when you download it.
We do know that oddly-titled Band of Thieves and 1000 Pokemon is due to launch in Japan ahead of the upcoming 17th Pokemon movie: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction, which gets a Japanese cinema release in July. There’s currently no word on a Western release, but considering the fact that we’re getting Pokemon Art Academy, it seems fairly likely.
