Lots of people want to get their stabbity-stab on in Renaissance-era Italia. Who’d have guessed?
After a passable first installment in the series, Ubisoft knocked it out of the park with Assassin’s Creed II, which was easily one of my favorite games last year. Everything I read seems to indicate that the continuation of Ezio Auditore’s adventures in Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood will be a worthy successor to AC2. Therefore, I am quite understandably looking forward to this game – and I’m not the only one.
According to Ubisoft, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood has “surpassed all other Ubisoft video game releases in worldwide pre-orders.” That’s a fairly big achievement, given that Ubisoft also publishes the popular Prince of Persia series as well as pretty much everything with the Tom Clancy name on it – including Splinter Cell.
“Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood is being heralded by the press as a single and multiplayer experience unlike any other,” said Tony Key, Ubisoft’s senior VP of sales and marketing. “As evidenced by the record number of pre-orders and the success of the multiplayer beta, consumers can’t wait to get their hands on Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, and we’re looking forward to delivering them an experience they’ll never forget.”
Ubisoft is almost certain to begin a full-court press with Brotherhood promotions in the next few weeks leading up to the game’s release on November 16th. Its predecessor was awarded a Guinness World Record for being the game that appeared on the most magazine covers, after all.
Speaking of Brotherhood promotions, there’s a new trailer out for the game – seen here to the right – that introduces us to the game’s main antagonist, Cesare Borgia. Is it looking pretty awesome? You bet. This is one hype train on which I’ll gladly ride for now.
