Amazon Prime’s TheĀ Wheel of TimeĀ adaptation is receiving some fresh blood. The long-gestating TV rendition of the beloved high fantasy series authored by Robert Jordan and finished by Brandon Sanderson finally has actors for the show’s core roster of characters.
Via Amazon’s official The Wheel of Time Twitter account, actors were announced for series mainstays like Josha Stradowski as Rand Al’Thor, Barney Harris as Mat Cauthon, Marcus Rutherford as Perrin Aybara, Zoe Robbins as Nynaeve al’Meara, and Madeleine Madden as Egwene al’Vere.
The actors themselves are relatively unknown, but their faces fit their characters’ respective personalities perfectly while adding diversity to the main cast.

The new cast joins the already announcedĀ Gone Girl‘s Rosamund Pike as the series lead Moiraine Damodred. The show is scheduled to start shooting this fall. The script was blessed by author and producer Brandon Sanderson, who compared showrunner Rafe Judkins’ handling of the material to Peter Jackson’s deferential attitude toward J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the RingsĀ trilogy. Incidentally,Ā Lord of the Rings is also a classic fantasy franchise that is receiving the Amazon Prime streaming treatment and just announced a new cast member.
