This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Amnesia: Rebirth has been given a release date just in time for Halloween. Frictional Games revealed that the next chapter in its twisted horror universe comes to PC and PlayStation 4 on Oct. 20. Better yet, there’s a new trailer that shows off more of the nightmares and story content littered throughout the game.

In Amnesia: Rebirth, players step into the shoes of protagonist Tasi Trianon, who finds herself battling psychological torment in the Algerian desert. Frictional Games promises to step things up this time around with a variety of environments and an emotional narrative. New creatures and puzzles will of course be coming along for the ride as well.

Frictional Games Creative Director Thomas Grip spoke on the series and Amnesia: Rebirth in a statement:

Amnesia is not just another haunted house spook-fest, but an emotionally harrowing journey. We aim to go beyond simple jump-scares and to affect players on a deeper level. While Rebirth will contain the terrifying encounters and sights you expect from an Amnesia game, it has a lot more focus on narrative than previous entries in the series. We want the player to form a strong bond with Tasi and intimately share her tribulations. This will not be your run-of-the-mill horror experience.

Amnesia: Rebirth was officially announced in March of this year following a February tease and comes a full 10 years after the original Amnesia: The Dark Descent launched to praise across the board. The Chinese Room developed Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, the second entry in the series, in 2013 while Frictional tackled sci-fi horror game Soma, which released in 2015. Amnesia: Rebirth marks the first time the studio has properly returned to the franchise in a decade.

You can buy Amnesia: Rebirth when it comes to GOG, the Epic Games Store, Steam, and PlayStation 4 on its October release date.
