The Marvel costuming team usually does a good job with dressing its heroes (the less said about Cap’s quickly discarded Avengers costume, the better). Every film delivers some tweaks here and there to each character’s costume, and it looks like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will be no different as Anthony Mackie has given us our first look at the new Falcon costume in the Disney+ series.

The image is in black and white so we can’t really tell the colors, but assuming the palette is along the same lines as his Falcon costumes in the movies and in concept art we’ve seen, it should feature some burst of red in there. The overall design doesn’t look that drastically different from what was in his film escapades, though it seems a bit lighter overall with less armor and metal on it. Obviously, the most important part of his outfit, his wings, isn’t present, so we’ll have to wait and see how that comes out.
Mackie, along with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier co-star Sebastian Stan (who took the photo), just returned to filming the series after it was shut down in March due to coronavirus. That delay, along with the delay of other MCU films and shows, cascaded into an entire cinematic universe being pushed back. The show still has no new release date. That stands for most of the other Disney+ MCU shows as well, with WandaVision being the only series still on track to release “soon,” according to a recent Disney+ tweet.
This is the wayā¦ to get pumped for the coming months. Start streaming favorites like Hidden Figures, X2, and Big, plus Originals like The Right Stuff from @NatGeo, Clouds, @MarvelStudiosā WandaVision, and a new season of The Mandalorian. Coming soon on #DisneyPlus. pic.twitter.com/PrS1LovFq4

Remember, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision are tied to the MCU, so release dates may need to coincide with movie release in order for connected plot points to make sense. Disney may get the ball rolling in November when Black Widow finally drops, but reports say that the studio is seriously considering delaying the film yet again, which could set back the entire MCU once again. We’re pushing dangerously close to the release date of Eternals, and if that falls, the entire MCU could see delays.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will also star Daniel Bruhl in his Zemo role from Captain America: Civil War, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, and Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent.
