Developer Respawn Entertainment and publisher Electronic Arts have announced that Apex Legends will launch on Steam on Nov. 4, alongside Season 7, while the Nintendo Switch version has been delayed.Ā  Players who have already been playing Apex Legends on PC through EA’s game launcher, Origin, can switch between it and Steam. Additionally, all account progression and unlocks will carry over.

During Season 7, Steam players who log in will receive extra bonuses, including exclusive gun charms based on Valve properties Half-Life and Portal.

The Nintendo Switch version of Apex Legends was also supposed to release this fall but has now been delayed to 2021. Chad Grenier, the Respawn game director of Apex Legends, noted that this particular year brought additional challenges to development.

“Weā€™re still hard at work on the port, but in order to do justice to the game and make it into the great experience Switch players deserve, our team needs more time,ā€ Grenier explained. “This year has brought on unexpected new challenges, to put it mildly, and we donā€™t want to rush anything out.ā€

While the delay of the Switch version into 2021 is disappointing, Grenier reiterated that it will support cross-platform play and come with the latest seasonal content. Apex Legends on Nintendo Switch will also have full feature parity to match those of other platforms.

A beta form of cross-platform play was already rolled out earlier this month for existing versions of the game. By the time the Switch version is ready, so will complete cross-platform functionality.
