Apple Arcade and Apple TV+ to Be $4.99/Month Each, Content Revealed

Apple held a press conference today in order to share more details on its Apple Arcade subscription service and Apple TV+.

Both Apple Arcade and Apple TV+ got launch dates — Sept. 19 and Nov. 1 respectively — along with family plans that will cost $4.99 a month each. If you are still a little hesitant to hop on board, Apple Arcade is offering a month-long free trial, and Apple TV+ is offering a seven-day free trial. While release dates and pricing announcements were two highlights from today, each service will also get lots of content to help entice potential customers to try everything out.

If there were ever a time to sell audiences on its mobile subscription service, today was that day. Thankfully, Apple Arcade is promising exclusive games, an affordable price, and plenty of content for smartphone owners to sink their teeth into. Apple brought out three heavy-hitting publishers to prove its trust in the service: Capcom, Konami, and Annapurna Interactive.

Capcom revealed a 2.5D underwater exploration game, Shinsekai: Into the Depths, which will be exclusive to the service, while Konami announced a revival and reimagining of classic arcade series Frogger. Annapurna rounded off the game announcements by showing off indie hit Sayonara Wild Hearts running on an iOS device. A press release later confirmed more new games coming to the service as well, including Sega’s ChuChu Rocket! Universe, Devolver Digital’s Exit the Gungeon, Ubisoft’s Rayman Mini, and Bandai Namco’s Pac-Man Party Royale. There are too many publishers pledging their involvement in the service to count, so check out the picture below for a better idea as to who will join Apple’s mobile gaming party later this month.

Apple has announced a solid batch of shows for its subscription service on day one. The Morning Show stars Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, and Steve Carell and is aiming to quench a dramatic thirst for subscribers. Another offering, Dickinson, stars Hailee Steinfeld as poet Emily Dickinson. While the trailer promises laughs, the show’s story might explore more about the real-life poet’s life. Meanwhile, Game of Thrones and Aquaman star Jason Momoa will lead maybe the most expensive-looking show, called See. See’s epic scale is only matched by its unique premise of a blind human race in the future. Few even believe sight once existed, but after some children are born with the ability to see, conflict arises.

Six additional series will launch on day one with more content planned to roll out over the coming months. For those who find binge-watching less appealing, Apple plans to have some shows send out episodes on a weekly basis. Although, some shows will still drop entire seasons in a day. Either way, Apple no doubt has years of content scheduled in.

Apple will surely announce more options in its Apple Arcade and Apple TV+ packages throughout the coming months.
