Ubisoft has announced that the PC version of Assassin’s Creed 2 has been pushed back into 2010.
2010 is starting to look like the lineup in the grocery store that you’re not standing in. Your line was long and crowded when you first wheeled up with your cart full of food but then another register opened and someone went over to it, and then someone else, and then a couple more people, and suddenly there’s a huge stampede of shoppers charging over to that lane because they think it’s less crowded and moving faster, so they can get through quick and be on their way.
And who’s the latest S-Mart shopper to pop over to the other line? Why, it’s Ubisoft, which announced this morning that the PC version of Assassin’s Creed 2 would be delayed to the first quarter of 2010. “Assassin’s Creed 2 PC has moved to the first quarter of 2010,” the company wrote on its Twitter blog. “A bit more time for the dev team to deliver the best quality game to you.”
No word on what specific quality issues are at play here, nor why it would affect only the PC edition and not the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 releases. Unless, of course, “delivering the best quality game” means, “We think the PC release is going to be pirated to Hell and back and we don’t want that messing with our console revenues, so see y’all next year.” But hey, that’s probably just crazy talk. Right?
