During the Xbox Games Showcase, after Obsidian Entertainment showed more details on Grounded, the studio announced its next project, Avowed. It is Obsidian’s big AAA RPG game, with VP of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty saying, “This is Obsidian at their best.”
Avowed will be taking place on Eora, the same world as Obsidian’s Pillars of Eternity franchise. The reveal trailer shows flaming arrows shooting into some sort of canyon, with accompanying voice-over, “We have always known war. It forged our empire. Turned heroes into queens and kings. And decimated our foes.”
The camera then shifts into a first-person view with a person wielding a magic sword and conjuring a sigil to invoke some sort of spell. The trailer ends with the voice-over, “Is an oath worth the weight of a crown?”
No release window has been announced, but Obsidian Entertainment is bringing Avowed to Xbox Series X and PC.
