WayForward is bringing Rayne’s sexy back to XBLA and PSN.
Well this was certainly unexpected. Wayforward Technologies, known for its work on side-scrollers such as the new A Boy and His Blob as well as the Batman: The Brave and the Bold game is working on a new entry into the BloodRayne series with BloodRayne: Betrayal a downloadable, 2D sidescroller coming to Xbox Live and Playstation Network this summer.
For those deep in the touch with the BloodRayne lore, BloodRayne: Betrayal follows Rayne as she is recruited by the Brimstone Society to stop some sort of evil. Surprised, right?
Known best for its busty/vampire protagonist Rayne and maybe even more so from the initial failed film pursuits of Uwe Boll, a 2D take on the series in an interesting turn. It’s also somewhat encouraging seeing as how the team that brought us some fine side-scrollers is working on revitalizing the franchise.
While the press release says nothing regarding co-op play, Wayforward has worked on plenty of side-scrollers that include co-op play such as Contra 4 on the DS. Now 2D, co-op BloodRayne is a game I could get behind.
While there are no screenshots to speak of yet, you can watch the brief teaser above or if you are so inclined, check out the currently barren website for the game.
