Just how dramatic is it going to get in Cobra Kai season 3? Well, there’s a kid in full traction in one of these new images from the series from Entertainment Weekly. After releasing the first teaser for the season, which moved from the failed streamer YouTube Red, and renewing the series for a fourth season, Netflix has now released these images in which everyone is very serious and not smiling.
The series will pick up where season 2 left off on Netflix. It’s 35 years after the events of the seminal films and Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso’s teenage conflict. As the title suggests, the series is really focused on Johnny Lawrence as he tries to redeem himself after the actions he took in the films. It’s set up a surprisingly dramatic and quality series that deals with letting go of the past and redemption in ways you wouldn’t expect a Karate Kid spin-off to do.
These new images show a host of continued drama going on in the show, including Miguel recovering in the hospital. The images foreshadow the continued three-way conflict among Daniel, Johnny, and Kreese. It doesn’t look like Netflix will be changing much in the series, which makes sense considering the previous seasons have already done well on the platform, changing the series from an under-seen nostalgia grab into a cultural player.
Cobra Kai season 3 will make its premiere on Netflix on Jan. 8, 2021.
