505 Games and Remedy Entertainment have announced that Control Ultimate Edition will launch digitally on Feb. 2, 2021 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S. Physical copies of the game will release a month later on March 2, 2021.
They also provided a teaser video of the game’s two visual modes, Graphics Mode and Performance Mode, running on PlayStation 5 hardware. The former enables ray tracing and runs at 30 FPS, while the latter prioritizes 60 FPS. The full next-gen trailer is still being worked on and will be shown later down the road.

Those who bought Control Ultimate Edition on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are eligible for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S versions at no additional cost. Unfortunately, those who only purchased the base version of Control are not eligible, regardless of if DLC was also purchased. This resulted in some controversy as publisher 505 Games tried to explain the reasoning, but it wasn’t received well.
Control Ultimate Edition contains the main game, as well as The Foundation and AWE expansions and the Expeditions and Photo Modes. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S versions of the game were originally scheduled to release digitally this year but were delayed to 2021.
Control Ultimate Edition is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It can also be played on Nintendo Switch via its Cloud Version.
