State of Play Coming This Week with Third-Party and Indie Updates

Sony is hosting its latest State of Play later this week, a 30-minute presentation promising updates for upcoming indie and third-party titles, prominently including Bethesda and Arkane Studios’ Deathloop. It’ll start this Thursday at 2 p.m. PT / 5 p.m. ET, and you can watch it on the PlayStation Twitch and YouTube channels.

The Deathloop presence at the State of Play presentation will consist of nine minutes of extended gameplay footage showing off some of the game’s stealth and action offerings. What PlayStation has in store for its indie and third-party partners was not specified. But if you’re expecting any news on God of War, Horizon Forbidden West, or the PlayStation 5’s PSVR technology, you’re out of luck; Sony says it will have nothing to show this week. However, Sony stated we can expect more news throughout the summer.

The last PlayStation State of Play showcase showed off an extended look at Horizon Forbidden West. Developer Guerrilla Games’ gameplay premiere spotlighted a few new mechanics, such as the paraglider and new enemies. We’re still without a release date, but PlayStation Worldwide Studios head Hermen Hulst later elaborated on the lack of release information, saying that the team hopes to launch later this year but can’t guarantee it.
