A port for the award-winning Disco Elysium is making its way to Nintendo Switch. Developer ZA/UM’s art director, Aleksander Rostov, confirmed the news with BBC podcast Game On, saying, “This interview is, at this very moment, interrupting me from writing up design documentation for the user interface and input systems for the Switch port.”
As for a timeline, narrative lead Helen Hindpere was able to confirm that we’ll hear more “soon.”
Disco Elysium released on PC in October of last year, with 2020 ports to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later revealed to be on the way with no release date yet. Considering we have yet to hear specific scheduling for a PlayStation and Xbox release, there’s no telling if all three consoles will see a simultaneous launch. However, with the unceremonious nature of this new port announcement, it’s best to hold off on date expectations for any platform until ZA/UM has more to say.
The Escapist spoke with lead designer Robert Kurvitz about Disco Elysium last November, where he confirmed the existence of console ports. On top of this, Kurvitz took the time to talk about why he typically stays away from reviews of the game, as well as his more general thoughts on the industry.
