Disney Shares an Official Star Wars Timeline, If You Somehow Forgot

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Timelines about fictional intellectual properties. Where would the internet be without them to argue about? The latest one to drop might not be the most needed, but it is nice to have. Disney has released an official timeline for all canon Star Wars movies and television shows in preparation for the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars to drop on Disney+.

TheĀ Star Wars timeline isn’t all that complex, really. It’s not like we’re dealing with multiple timelines here or confusing “what if” branches. Taking a look at the timeline, the only semi-confusing thing is the same thing that has always been a bit odd about the films: The first trilogy released before the second trilogy but took place after it. The timeline does confirm that Clone Wars will go up to the very end ofĀ Revenge of the Sith so that fans can see where Ahsoka and the rest of the series crew ended up after Anakin went full child murderer.

Aside from that, it’s just kind of nice to see it all laid out so simply, especially since this timeline should be pretty relevant for the next few years as Disney isn’t planning on adding anything new to it for a while thanks to the hiatus Star Wars films are on and no news of any other Disney+ shows aside from the second season ofĀ The Mandalorian. That season should pick up right after the last one, so it shouldn’t change this handy timeline at all.

Of non-timeline note is the fact that Disney’s graphic says that both Solo: A Star Wars Story andĀ Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be coming to Disney+ soon, though no dates are given. The former film was tied up with the expiring contract Disney still had with Netflix, and the latter is simply a matter of when Disney wants to move the movie to their platform. Although, The Rise of Skywalker will release for digital purchase on March 17 and physically on March 31.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars‘ final season will premiere on Disney+ on Feb. 21.
