Bethesda has finally revealed the release date for the Nintendo Switch version of Doom Eternal, which is being handled by Panic Button. It will be a digital-only release on the Nintendo Switch eShop and launch on Dec. 8. Those who purchase the projected 18.8 GB game early will also receive the bonus Rip & Tear Pack and Doom 64. Players have until Dec. 23 at 8:59 a.m. PST to redeem the content.
Doom Eternal also has optional gyroscopic controls that are compatible with both the regular Switch and Switch Lite iterations. Battlemode is available as well, where one player assumes control of a fully armed Doom Slayer against two player-controlled demons in a 2 vs. 1 fashion.
Additionally, the first round of DLC, The Ancient Gods, Part One will arrive on Nintendo Switch at a later date. This update has already been released on all other platforms.
Earlier this month, retailers such as GameStop were canceling preorders for the game, and while some speculated that Doom Eternal on Switch would be canceled, it just transitioned into a digital-only launch.
Doom Eternal launched earlier this year on March 20 and is currently available on Xbox Game Pass for Console, as well as PC, PlayStation 4, and Google Stadia. Those who already own the game on PS4 and Xbox One will receive the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S versions at no additional cost when they arrive.
