During Gamescom Opening Night Live, BioWare showed us a glimpse of the next Dragon Age game. In a new behind-the-scenes trailer, BioWare’s Casey Hudson explained that the upcoming Dragon Age 4 is still in early production and that the studio is looking to leverage next-generation hardware.
The trailer presented several BioWare developers talking about what makes Dragon Age special to them, accompanied by footage of in-game development, as well as actors in motion capture suits and voice actors reciting lines.
It seems like Solas is making a return and new characters Bellara and Davrin are introduced too, voiced by Jee Young Han and Ike Amadi, respectively. The trailer closes with some new concept art of Dragon Age 4, but no other details have been revealed.
The next Dragon Age game has been in development for a while, with the franchise’s last game being Dragon Age: Inquisition released back in 2014. The project incidentally lost its lead producer, Fernando Melo, late last year. He referred to Dragon Age 4 by its code name of Morrison and said that it will be the “definitive Dragon Age experience.”
Release windows and platforms were not discussed, but Dragon Age 4 is presumably releasing on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
