Capcom has unveiled a new trailer for the upcoming DuckTales: Remastered which features footage of the game’s “Himalayas” level and narration courtesy Launchpad McQuack.
DuckTales: Remastered, as its title suggests, is a modern remake of Capcom’s classic NES-era platformer DuckTales. Development on the title is being handled by the neo-retro savants at WayForward Technologies (the same people responsible for Contra 4 and Double Dragon Neon). In short, there’s many reasons to be excited for this game.
That said, before I started writing up this story, there was a bit of conflict here at Escapist HQ. Some people (read: myself) see the colorful, jovial aesthetics in DuckTales: Remastered as a solid, modern recreation of the 8-bit Disney-style sprite work of its source material.
Other, less attractive Escapist writers see this latest trailer as a bit too glossy. A bit too shiny. It’s almost as if this game had been animated in Flash, before making the leap to the various modern gaming platforms.
Here’s where you come in: Watch that trailer above, then decide who you side with, myself or my obviously wrong colleagues. Bonus points if you can provide an eloquent argument backing your choice. Comments are below, you know what to do.
