EA to Release 14 Games by March 2021, Mass Effect Trilogy HD Remake Reportedly Among Them

EA has 14 games lined up to launch before March 2021, and a Mass Effect Trilogy HD remake may be one of them. The company’s financial report from yesterday provided its plans for the next fiscal year, listing previously announced games — and some unannounced games — scheduled for the future. The games, as arranged by VentureBeat, are as follows:

The standout here is the eighth bullet, which VentureBeat very nonchalantly mentioned to be a Mass Effect Trilogy HD remake: “Oh, and that HD remake of an EA game is the Mass Effect Trilogy. Just don’t expect that to also launch on Switch — at least not at first.” No source was cited.

We’ll have to wait and see if the remake emerges, though some key questions remain. For example, it’s unclear if the Mass Effect Trilogy HD remake will come to both current-gen and next-gen consoles considering it may launch after the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X hit store shelves. Regardless, fans will be happy to know that the series is likely returning after the less-than-favorable response to Mass Effect: Andromeda.

EA also reassured Switch players during the call, saying “multiple” games will come to the platform in the future despite a lack of support so far.

In related news, EA confirmed this past January that DICE’s Battlefield 2021 project will not release by March. However, Command & Conquer: Remastered comes to PC this June 5, and Burnout Paradise Remastered launches on Switch on June 19. Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is slated to launch sometime this year.

The Escapist’s Nate Najda spoke on why Mass Effect 2 remains a masterpiece during a February episode of The Joy of Gaming.
