Today was a bit lighter in terms of video game news, but there are still some noteworthy announcements, like Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘ new summer update. Additionally, we got a breakdown of what to expect from PokĆ©mon GO‘s August 2020 Community Day,Ā Phantasy Star Online 2 heading to Steam, and a look at the future of Street Fighter V. Animal Crossing: New Horizons Summer Update Wave 2

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is about to get even sweeter, thanks to wave 2 of its summer updates. The next update will go live on July 30 and will feature the ability for Switch Online subscribers to back up their island to the cloud — a much requested addition from the community.

Wave 2 will also bring the ability to visit other players’ islands via dreams and weekly fireworks shows occurring each Sunday at 7 p.m. for the month of August. Nintendo did say the ability to move your save data from system to system is “planned for later this year,” proving the company is listening to fan feedback. PokƩmon GO August 2020 Community Day Info

According to the official PokĆ©mon GO site, August 2020’s Community Day will include new features, most notably an increase in Magikarp spawn rate. You’ll also have the ability to purchase a new August Community Day Box, which will feature 30 Ultra Balls, an Elite Charged TM, six Star Pieces, and an Incense. You can furthermore expect new Research tasks and bonuses like 3x Catch Stardust multipliers.

The upcoming Community Day occurs on Aug. 8 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time.

Phantasy Star Online 2 Is Coming to Steam

Phantasy Star Online 2 is giving players an easier way to play on PC, thanks to its release on Steam. That’s right — you won’t have to worry about the issues that come with trying to install it via the Windows Store. It’ll be available to purchase on Steam on Aug. 5 as confirmed by its listing on Steam.

Though it’s been out in Japan for quite some time, Phantasy Star Online 2 came to North America in April 2020 and will hopefully see an increase in players due to its Steam release next month.

Street Fighter V Summer Update Goes Live This August

The official Street Fighter Twitter account teased more Street Fighter V: Champion Edition content today, announcing a special reveal event scheduled for next month. The event will include special guests who will deliver news about the game’s Summer Update, which will feature new character reveals.

You can catch the event on the Capcom Fighters Twitch channel on Aug. 5 at 10 a.m. PDT. In the meantime, you can play Street Fighter V: Champion Edition on PlayStation 4 and PC right now.

Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid Is Getting a Physical Collector’s Edition This Fall

You can currently grab Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid digitally across various platforms, but Maximum Games has announced a physical Collector’s Edition, set to launch this fall. It will be available on Oct. 8, 2020 for $29.99 and will include the following:

  • Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid (Full Game)
  • Season 1 DLC (Day One Skin, Three post-release characters)
  • Exclusive Lord Drakkon Evo II Skin
  • Exclusive Kimberly Hart, Mighty Morphin Pink Ranger Skin
  • Lauren Shiba

Preorders will open soon and feature two Green Ranger V2 skins, so you can keep one for yourself and give the other to a friend.
