Netflix is diving back into the big-budget action arena with the first trailer for the upcoming Extraction. The movie stars Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, “a fearless black market mercenary,” and is produced by the Russo Brothers of Avengers fame.
Of course, having the Russo Brothers producing a film doesn’t mean it’s going to be good. The movie’s story is one that’s been told a thousand times to varying degrees of success. An elite hitman/mercenary is tasked with rescuing/killing a child and finds himself/herself becoming attached to said child. In this case, Hemsworth’s character is sent to rescue a drug lord’s son and return him home, but things don’t go quite as planned.
Director Sam Hargrave is a prolific stunt coordinator and has been working his way through much of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in that role, especially in the Russo Brothers’ films, culminating in being the stunt/fight coordinator and second unit director for Avengers: Endgame. That’s no small task, so he could bring something truly interesting to the action in the film or at the very least deliver some exciting action for the small screen.
The cast also includes Rudhraksh Jaiswal, Randeep Hooda, Golshifteh Farahani, Pankaj Tripathi, Priyanshu Painyuli, and David Harbour. The film will release on Netflix (Where else would a movie open?) on April 24.
