EA Los Angeles decided that the best folks for the job of subtitling Command & Conquer 4 were the fans, and the fans have decided that the best subtitle for the upcoming RTS is Tiberian Twilight.
Design by (fan) committee might not work for some things, but when it comes to asking gamers to pick the names for their favorite games, you can usually expect a decent result. Atlus fans were smart enough to pick Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble from a poll, and now Command & Conquer fans have picked a not too horrible name for their most anticipated game.
Command & Conquer 4 is no more. From henceforth it shall be known as Command & Conquer 4 Tiberian Twilight. That’s the decision of the more than 15,000 fans who submitted their ideas for possible titles – Tiberian Twilight, EA says, was far and away the best and most popular one.
“Our sophisticated fans are a tremendous community with a great love for the series. We really wanted to involve them in Command & Conquer 4 – what better way than to have them create the title?” said Mike Glosecki of EA Los Angeles. “We were blown away by all the creative names they came up with but the most popular selection, Tiberian Twilight, seemed the best fit, embodying that the saga is coming to a powerful and epic conclusion.”
It’s not a bad name. The alliteration should tickle the fancy of English majors and the mention of the word “twilight” should send all the Twilight fanboys and fangirls into a tizzy. Maybe that’s why EA was okay with this decision. They’re hoping that Twilight addicts will see this game in a store and think “OMG A TWILIGHT GAME EDWARD CULLEN <3!!” and just buy it without even looking at what it really is. Okay, maybe not. But it could happen.
