Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier end of service shut down date January 11, 2023 free-to-play mobile battle royale F2P Square Enix Ateam

Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier Will Shut Down in January 2023

Publisher Square Enix and developer Ateam have announced an end of service for free-to-play mobile battle royale game Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier, as it will shut down on January 11, 2023. Shinra Credits have already been removed from the in-game shop, coinciding with this announcement, but any credits you already have will remain available to you until the end of service. As for why Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier will shut down, Square simply offered, “Despite all our efforts to bring you regular updates with fresh and exciting content, we haven’t been able to deliver the experience that we were hoping to, and that you all deserve.”

That may be the end of one Final Fantasy VII spinoff project, but many others certainly remain. Firstly, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII – Reunion launches this December, offering a sweeping remaster of the Sony PSP action RPG on modern platforms. Then there’s Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake, which will launch on PlayStation 5 sometime “next winter.” There’s even another sweeping mobile game project in development, with Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis aiming to deliver episodic single-player role-playing that retells story events across the whole saga of Final Fantasy VII, even including the Advent Children movie.

Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier officially launched not quite a year ago, on November 17, 2021.
