Fort Triumph Is XCOM Meets Fantasy and Launches in Two Weeks

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Tactical RPG Fort Triumph is an XCOM-fantasy mash-up that will receive its official release at last in two weeks. Developer CookieByte Entertainment and publisher All in! Games have revealed the turn-based title will launch for PC on April 16, with a PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch release later this year. Fort Triumph has its own twists on the XCOM formula to keep things fresh, which you can see below in one of the game’s old gameplay trailers.

Players lead a group of heroes through battles that require as much brain as brawn, especially considering the opportunities the environment provides in combat. CookieByte makes it clear that every object can be used to your advantage, such as trees that can be toppled over onto enemies. In fact, Fort Triumph requires players to take advantage of their surroundings at all times in order to succeed.

Each hero has their own unique abilities, of course, and players will have the chance to choose between four factions to control. The tactical gameplay doesn’t stop at combat thanks to the ability to build bases, gather resources, and recruit new heroes. Procedurally generated content makes sure every battle feels unique too, as maps and missions feel one-of-a-kind in their own ways.

Fort Triumph got its start on Kickstarter and managed to hit its original $75,000 goal.

Fort Triumph is currently in Steam Early Access, so you can jump in and start playing now before its official PC release in two weeks.
