God of War Collection won’t be coming to Europe this year, nor will it feature a God of War 3 demo, but it will be region free.
A whole of of “no” news in regards to the recently announced God of War Collection for PS3. First off, the game will not be coming to European retailers within the year. “We are currently looking into options to bring God of War I and II to SCEE consumers on PS3; however it will not be possible to release the games this calendar year,” a Sony rep said. “We will provide further information in due course.”
That’s the bad news. The good news is that European gamers can always import the game because it’s region free, otherwise they can just wait for the compilation to hit stores whenever it does.
One reason folks might feel the irrepressible desire to import is because they’re hoping against hope that God of War Collection might include something in the way of a God of War 3 demo. Considering God of War 3‘s due next March and Collection’s hitting in advance of that and clearly serves as a way for Sony to remind folks of Kratos’ existence, wouldn’t it make a whole lot of sense?
“I know a lot of people played the E3 demo and dug it and everything but, as far as our standards, it’s not ready to go into everybody’s home,” Sony Santa Monica’s John Hight told IGN. “So we wouldn’t want to hinder our efforts to get God of War 1 and 2 out.”
