Ready to hear some really brief, loud roaring? At the virtual CCXP Worlds event this past weekend, Warner Bros. released the first look at its upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong, delivering a three-second clip that featured both monsters roaring at the screen. This is our first chance to see the two kaiju (or one kaiju and one giant gorilla) in the upcoming film, which will be the next movie in Legendary’s giant monster movie universe and pits the two classic beasts against each other as Monarch Sciences continues being sketchy.
At CCXP Worlds they showed us a 3 second long teaser for Godzilla vs Kong, even though it's short it got me so excited.#Godzilla #GodzillaMovie #KingKong #KongSkullIsland #KingKongVsGodzilla #KongVsGodzilla #GodzillavsKingKong #GodzillavsKong #CCXPWorlds #CCXPWorlds2020 pic.twitter.com/4lRujAOukd

We were already supposed to have seen Godzilla and King Kong roaring loudly at each other, but thanks to the pandemic the film was delayed from its Nov. 20 release date and will now be debuting May 21, 2021, in both theaters and on HBO Max. It isn’t like we haven’t seen this before, however. Both Kong and Godzilla look nearly identical to how they appeared in the previous films in the series: Kong: Skull Island,Ā Godzilla, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters. That last film, in fact, already showed us a bunch of kaiju going toe to toe as humanity ran around screaming.
The movies have established pretty deep lore at this point with a host of mysteries and other monsters to be capitalized on as long as Godzilla vs. Kong performs well. The franchise’s last outing, King of the Monsters, underperformed at the box office and was considered the weakest of the three films so far critically. Still, Legendary has done some good things with the films, and Adam Wingard, who is helming this latest installment, can be a really creative director.
The official plot description reads as follows:
In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanityās fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titansā origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.
