What is unique about your guild?
While some might hold up Vornak for his unwavering and steadfast loyalty to the end or Vaemar for being able to wile out a successful strategy and clever application of tactics. I would say our most unique characteristic is an ability to withstand high amounts of pain. We have not always been coasting on the cloud of success, anyone who knows our history knows it has been rocky at times. However, we have always perservered. There is no quit in my team and I am proud of that. Besides, you have to be a bit of a masochist to withstand our sardonic and taciturn manner for any length of time.

Who are the people of your guild?
Brigade Peers are the people you want at your side when the metal meets the meat. They are hard workers capable of performing extraordinary acts in clutch spots. Our tenets are simple: brotherhood, loyalty, strength, and pride. All of our brothers strive to uphold our collective honor and will take any measure to ensure you respect it.

What is your take on Role Playing?
From the Brigade perspective, Role Playing is what turns useless grinding into something of worth. It takes a simple duel and turns it into an epic encounter with a rival that could be echoed through the ages. Sure, it is not for everyone, but for us, it is definitely what keeps the game fresh after a year or two of blowing through content.

What is your current guild size?
We currently have around 40 active members in various games and servers, mostly centered on Lightninghoof in WoW right now. We anticipate remaining around this size for the Age of Conan, however, I do have some plans that involve forming strategic alliances with employers, should they have the gold to keep us on retainer. =)

What servers are you gunning on?
My ideal target server is an FFA RP-PvP server. I like having to defend myself at any time and I like knowing I can attack someone at any time. I think it makes people have better manners when they know you can shove a good yard of steel through their gut if you fail to appreciate their words. Since we are a roleplaying group, the RP is a must.

How do you look at interacting with other guilds?
“In the struggle for survival, the fittest win out at the expense of their rivals.”

How are you structured socially?
I have been a member of many great organizations in my time as a gamer. Every one has had a major flaw that causes it to fail at some point. From my experiences, I drafted what is called the Code of Cyras, a set of guiding documents for the philosophy and protocols of the Midnight Brigade. Through the Code, we have two hierarchies in place: military and social. As Captain of the Brigade, all military decisions flow through my office. This includes contracts, alliances, and strategy. We have various levels of leadership, as any organization must, varying from individual squad leaders up through Captain.
However, I have no love nor desire to micromanage my Brigade Brother’s lives. Every man, if he is to be strong, must be free. As such, we have a governing system for our city and social structure that flows through the Elder’s Council. Out of every ten Brigade Peers, an Elder is elected. Combined with others elected likewise, they form a council to guide the laws and day to day activities of the Brigade. They also serve as a protection against my emotions, as they are able to oust me from power and start a new Captain’s election, should they have sufficient backing.
Socially, we are all Peers. Every man has the right to challenge another, the right to redress grievances, and to expect honorable and open relations.

What is your take on player cities?
I look forward to building our mark on the world. Our city, Lakedaemon, will be a marvel built from our capacity for hard work, steadfast determination, and brotherhood. Hopefully the Developers will see fit to allow city attacks and we will have the opportunity to defend our homes and burn those of our enemies. I believe in a zero sum game: your loss is my gain.

What is your take on in-game taxes and loot distribution?
We have methods for loot distribution that I believe treat fairly those who work every day and those who only appear once in a while. Our laws provide a methodology for fair taxation. As we are first a Mercenary Company, this goes beyond normal guild affairs, as every Peer in the Brigade is entitled to a portion of our profits. So taxation works like corporate profits, in the long term, we should realize zero profit for the city.
While some may break under the yoke of taxation, I do not believe it will be a problem for the Brigade. We all believe in doing our part, fair and open relations, and have a system of accountability in place. There is no reason for someone to feel cheated or let that feeling mature into a separation from the family they have built with us.

What excites you most about Age of Conan?
I am a simple man: cleaving heads. I look forward to raising my sword and watching the catapults fly, to riding down a hill at the enemy on my stead, and to cleaving and slashing in fields filled with blood with my Brigade Brothers.

How are you planning on communicating in-game?
We have used voice chat for several years now, I do not anticipate this changing for PvP and out of character communication. All text will be regarded as in character communication and treated as such.

What are you looking for in a potential member?
I am looking for someone who is not just browsing the guild market looking for a temporary home for the moment. The Midnight Brigade is a long-term commitment that can benefit you through not just the Age of Conan but games beyond. We are a group that enjoys gaming with one another on every level and will progress at our own pace, whether that be world first or 11,000th. Nothing disappoints me more than seeing someone pledge that they are ready to go the distance only to see them disappear without a word a week later.

How to apply?
Head to http://www.midnightbrigade.com, register, and post in the Recruiting Post [AoC] forum.

Final words from Cyras:
I appreciate Warcry giving my fine organization the opportunity to use this forum to gather some new eyes on the banner of the blue and black. Hopefully some of our prospective employers will see this and consider hiring a professional mercenary team to fulfill their needs, whatever they are. Thank you.
