Glagnar, AoC Division leader of The Guardians was nice enough ti bear my forgetful self and survive šŸ˜‰ here we go:

What is special about your guild?
We are a multi-gaming organization that strive to have a family oriented atmosphere with people in all walks of life. On April 19, 2007 was our guild’s 5 year anniversary, and during those 5 years we managed to keep a family atmosphere and to have fun. During those 5 years we played many different games like S.G., WOW, BF2, BF2142, Counterstrike, America’s Army, LOTOR, Vanguard and many others games.

Who are the people of your guild?
We are a group of friends with mutual goals to accomplish in the gaming world. We have come from all different levels of society, all different areas of the world. From the boondocks of L.A. to the suburbs outside of New England, from Australia to Sweden.

What is the guild size?
We have about 200 to 250 people spanning over numerous games we play. We have enough people so there are always those who don’t currently play games, since RP keeps them busy but at least they contribute on the boards. Over past 5 years we have been growing steadily and added more mmo’s such as WOW and LOTRO to our original one – SWG. Over the past 5 years we have seen people come and go, but many have stuck with us from the start and are still there.

How do you look on interaction with other guilds?
Casual alliances will probably work best, if any, with use. Usually it takes time to get set up right since there will be issues both sides will need address if we want it to work out. Like in World of Warcraft- we had an alliance with another guild. We raided allot and did pvp together and hanged out. We expect in Conan we might set up alliances but it all depends on the mechanics.

How are you structured socially (ranks, groups…)?
The Guardians have a Guild leader and an Assistant guild leader. As we are a multi-game guild, we have leaders for each game section called Division Leaders – all of which are the Guardian Council. The division leaders run the day to day operations of their division. Under the Division Leaders are the Guardian Officers that help the division leaders. Under them are the rest of the members.
The Director of Development helps us develop into new games like Age of Conan, War hammer online etc.. he works with council, division heads and the guild leaders to give the division the tools we need to succeed as a new division with in the guild as whole. We will have in-game rank structure for the normal player base, but is to be determined at later date since we are still mauling it over.

What is your take on player cities?
Player cities is a must since that’s what helps us develop our family oriented atmosphere we strive to have. Like in the old division we had in S.W.G, our city played a big role, since our cantina called Dren’s Diner was a place where we partied in allot, and that’s where we had our DHQ that we had fun defending every night. After every raid or defense call we always hung out at Dren’s Diner to have fun and just unwind. Because of that we had a family oriented atmosphere since we always did stuff together for a fun filled day.

What is your take on in-game taxes and loot distribution?
Like in previous mmo’s such as S.W.G, we had basic tax system that worked and helped the guild survive and flourish in-game. Therefor we are likely to have the same principle, if it is allowed in AoC by the game mechanics. For loot distribution we have used DKP and other ideas in the past, but I am not sure what the mechanics in AoC will allow, so we can’t quite be sure just yet. We are definitely a need before greed type of guild, so we are going to make sure that the people that need the loot will get it.

What excites you most about Age of Conan?
Definitely player cities to help us have a family oriented atmosphere. Also, massive battlekeep fights. The feel of combat and the way magic looks so far is another thing that our guild as whole is looking forward to so far. Because of these 4 things and other stuff we like about this game, we are hoping to be around in this game for a long time to come and be known on the server we choose as a PVP power-house.

How are you planning on communicating in-game (raids, sieges etc…)?
We have been using ventrillo and will be using that for AoC when it goes live. We strongly suggest, but do not require, voice chat for our members. But we figure at same time we need good communication because of all the PvP we will be doing, so voice chat is must in that aspect of our game play.

What advantages are gained from being a part of a multi-game, experienced guild such as The Guardians?
Being a multi-game guild means The Guardians are able to be more diversified. People are not just limited to a single game. For example, we have people playing WoW, LOTRO, BF2 etc. All those people are able to take their experiences from those games and bring them into other games. People are able to discuss and be part of more than just a single game guild. Instead, we are part of a bigger community.

What are you looking for in a potential member?
People who are mature and want have fun, and like a Family oriented atmosphere. We will have a lot of members that are on allot, but we realize that there are more important things in life then just games. We want our members to enjoy themselves while they are immersing themselves in AoC. If our guild can accomplish that, people will want to be around as much as possible.

And finally, How to apply?
That is easy – just send a PM message to the Division head or Recruitment officer of that game you will be applying for and they guide you though the process. Basically you fill out a app, then send pm to the recruitment officer and he or she will guide you rest of the way. So after that you only have 2 thing left: We interview you – we ask some questions and if you pass that you be initiated in the guild under a trial basis for awhile. that way it gives us a chance to weed out bad apples or people who won’t work out.

Final words
We just hope this game delivers on Robert E Howard’s vision for Conan when he originally wrote about it. It should be a next generation MMO which I believe allot of people are looking for – whether its the PVP, Drunken brawling or the other stuff. I would like thank Warcry for giving us the opportunity to be a part of this and all of you guys reading our spotlight.
