We know this will be disappointing to many of you and we all share in that sentiment. The passion and support the community has shown over the years has been incredible and inspiring. We wanted nothing more than to play our game with the community this holiday. The extra time will let us finish the critical work necessary to deliver the most ambitious Halo game ever at the quality we know our fans expect.

Halo Infinite’s showing at the July Inside Xbox Xbox Series X showcase was met with some mixed reactions. The studio did not clarify what specifically will be fleshed out with the extra time, only that it wants to deliver “the Halo experience that meets our vision.” It was also recently announced that the game’s multiplayer element would be free to play, a major development for the series.

Halo Infinite launches sometime in 2021 for PC, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One.
