Hitman 3 has been given its January release date, and its next-gen upgrade will be free of charge. IO Interactive laid out its release date and next-gen plans via update post today, revealing that the third entry in the World of Assassination trilogy will launch for current- and next-gen consoles as well as Stadia and PC via the Epic Games Store on Jan. 20, 2021.

For upgrades on PlayStation, you can buy the PlayStation 4 version digitally and receive the digital PlayStation 5 version at launch for free. Xbox consoles, on the other hand, utilize Smart Delivery, so those players can purchase any version of the game and still receive Xbox One or Xbox Series X versions. This stands in contrast to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and NBA 2K21‘s next-gen plans.

Those interested in purchasing Hitman 3 can choose between the standard edition ($59.99) and deluxe edition ($79.99), with the latter including some digital goodies (below). If you preorder any version of the game, you’ll be granted access to the Trinity Pack, which contains items that celebrate the entire World of Assassination trilogy. IO also seemingly poked fun at the recent confusion surrounding publishers’ next-gen release plans, saying that purchasing Hitman 3 will be “nice and simple.”

IO recently revealed that Hitman 3 will launch first on the Epic Games Store, adding players will be able to carry over their progression from the previous Hitman games if they so desire.
