Hogwarts Legacy Announced, a Harry Potter Open-World Action RPG

During Sony’s PlayStation 5 showcase today, Warner Bros. Games announced its brand new game set in the Harry Potter universe, Hogwarts Legacy. It is an action RPG. It is being developed by Avalanche Software and will release for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S.

Players will explore the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to learn magical abilities and spells. The game’s open-world area will also include places like Forbidden Forest and Hogsmeade Village.

Warner Bros. Games President David Haddad says, “Hogwarts Legacy gives players control over their own experience with RPG gameplay unlike anything else in the Wizarding World, which will continue to build fan appeal in the Portkey Games label.”

John Blackburn, Avalanche’s General Studio Manager chimed in as well, “Itā€™s such an honor to work on such an amazing franchise, and the team is dedicated to delivering an authentic Wizarding World experience that both Harry Potter and RPG fans will enjoy.” He continued, “Hogwarts Legacy is so special because it allows players to immerse themselves in a new narrative that is filled with complex characters, and, of course, magic.ā€

Hogwarts Legacy will release sometime in 2021.
