How to Farm Purple Coins Easily in Super Mario Bros. Mario Wonder

Very early into Super Mario Bros. Wonder, youā€™ll find more than a few Purple Flower Coins scattered about its colorful levels, and you might get the urge to pick a spot and farm them while playing this new platformer. These collectibles are important currencies, so if youā€™re short on coins, hereā€™s everything you need to know about where to farm them in Mario Wonder and what theyā€™re for.

How to Use Purple Coins in Mario Wonder

Purple Coins act as currency in Mario Wonder, which you can spend to pass blockages to unlock areas on the overworld or buy items from the Poplin Shop across the Flower Kingdom.

Every level will have Purple Coins you can gather, but itā€™ll take quite some time to access locked areas. Meanwhile, youā€™re more than likely to use your currency here and there at the Poplin Shop. Below is a rundown of what you can buy there:

  • 1-Up Mushroom: 5 Purple Coins
  • 1-Up Mushroom Set: 10 Purple Coins
  • Standee Surprise: 10 Flower Coins
  • Badge: 30 Flower Coins
  • Wonder Seed: 100 Flower Coins

Without a doubt, replaying short challenge courses or constantly going up and down a map with Purple Coins is the best way to farm the currency effectively.

A few players made challenge runs like ā€œBadge Challenge Boosting: Spin Jump 1ā€ in Petal Isles into farming spots, where they can get around 45 coins in two minutes by going through parts of the map and restarting with a pitfall death. Others, such as ā€œExpert Badge Challenge: Jet Run Iā€ and ā€œPipe Rock Plateau,ā€ are popular favorites among players.

You can play as any character while farming, but to get the most out of it, I encourage you to play as Nabbit. With Nabbit, you can change power-ups into Purple Coins, but this only works if you have a stored Item Balloon. Depending on the level, this will substantially boost how much Purple Coins youā€™ll collect in a single run, saving you plenty of farm time.

If grinding out Purple Coins isnā€™t your style and seems like a hassle, simply playing the game is a viable way to farm the currency easily. Mario Wonder isnā€™t shy about putting Purple Coins on every course. Moreover, large coins in newer levels are worth 10 Purple Coins each, which dwarfs the value of the standard-sized coins that give only one.

Playing the game without stopping to farm will naturally allow you to unlock everything, plus finding Captain Toad in every world provides a massive bonus of Purple Coins for all the trouble. Farming isnā€™t entirely necessary, but if thatā€™s your fancy, you have multiple courses you can try if youā€™d like.
