Jesper Kyd on Returning to Assassin’s Creed & Composing Music During a Pandemic – Beyond the Pixels

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Today I’m excited to share with you the first episode of a new podcast series here on The Escapist called Beyond the Pixels.

Recommended Videos

Hosted by yours truly, this podcast series will be primarily about interviewing interesting people from all over the games industry, sharing their stories, discussing what they’ve been working on, and just general chitchat about games and happenings in the industry.

We haven’t decided on a release schedule yet, but you should expect at least one episode per month. Beyond the Pixels is available now on Soundcloud, Spotify, and iTunes.

The first episode features Jesper Kyd, and we discuss his long-awaited return to composing music for the Assassin’s Creed franchise and how the pandemic has affected his line of work. He’s also been teaching himself to play a handful of instruments during all of this, and that’s not even the craziest thing he told me in the interview.

You’ll also hear samples of the Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla soundtrack throughout the episode.

Enjoy!
