HBO The Last of Us show premiere date release 2023, not 2022

Left Behind: The Last of Us HBO Show Premiere Date Won’t Be in 2022

The HBO The Last of Us show is looking to be quite the adaptation. It has some great stars attached to it (Pedro Pascal, Gabriel Luna), as well as a few notable directors (Ali Abbasi, Jasmila Žbanić). However, Casey Bloys, HBO and HBO Max programming chief, dashed anyone’s hope of seeing a The Last of Us show premiere date for this year.

Speaking to Deadline, Bloys admitted, “It’s not going to air in 2022 — they are still shooting in Canada. I imagine you will see it in ’23.” Thankfully, it wasn’t all bad news. Bloys continued, “I have seen some early episodes and I’m very excited. Craig did Chernobyl for us, he is a fantastic writer and director. What I’ve seen looks amazing, so I’m excited for it, but it will not be in ’22.”

This The Last of Us show will be the first television series from PlayStation Productions, whenever its premiere date actually comes. Shooting began on the show last year, and it is anticipated to end in the middle of this year. The program is expected to cover events from the first game and may even throw in some plot from the second title.

Personally, I’m excited to see the show. I’m a big fan of Pascal and Luna, so knowing they are portraying Joel and Tommy fills me with joy. Hopefully filming will wrap up soon, so we can watch the series early next year instead of later.
