Legends of Localization Book 1 will feature 208 full-color pages of information and history about the localization of the original Legend of Zelda.
The Legend of Zelda is one of those classics that people can’t help but revisit over and over again. Whereas some are content to simply play the game every now and then however, others have devoted themselves to it in ways that are perhaps just a tad more in-depth.
Clyde Mandelin, for instance, wrote Legends of Localization Book 1: The Legend of Zelda. Compiling work from his personal website of the same name, the book takes an in-depth look at the process that went into localizing The Legend of Zelda and detailing how the Japanese and English versions differ from each other. The book can currently be pre-ordered at Fangamer and will include 208 full-color pages filled with interesting information.
Mandelin himself has worked on a number of official translations including Attack on Titan, Dragon Ball and One Piece. He’s also been involved in several prominent hobby translation projects such as Mother 3 and Star Ocean. Legends of Localization Book 1 costs 29 dollars (plus shipping) and, according to Fangamer, should be delivered some time by the middle of December. In other words, if you have any hardcore Zelda fans in your life, this is pretty much the perfect present for the holidays.
