Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have released a beta test schedule for Marvel’s Avengers. Those who preordered the game on PlayStation will gain access to the beta come Aug. 7, with Xbox and PC preorder players joining in alongside the PlayStation open beta on Aug. 14 (via IGN). On Aug. 21, the beta will be open on all platforms.
Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have also revealed a second War Table presentation will take place on July 29 at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET. Where the first War Table event got into the weeds of the superhero gameplay and the game’s many features, this next reveal will specifically explain what players can expect in the August beta. Marvel’s Avengers Creative Director Shaun Escayg released a statement teasing what to expect, saying that the beta is “meaty” and will touch on many modes and features present in the final game:
We built the beta in such a way that you can experience most of things that you’ll be doing in the full game. That means playing a piece of the original single-player Avengers story campaign, fighting through co-op missions, experiencing hero and world progression, and exploring War Zones and DROP ZONES, a new kind of mission we’ll talk about in the upcoming War Table on July 29. This beta is meaty, but it’s only a small part of the finished game.
Marvel’s Avengers launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia on Sept. 4. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions are on the way, too, and will offer free next-gen upgrades.
