Matt Reeves Has Revealed First Footage of Robert Pattinson as Batman

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Shooting for director Matt Reeves’ The Batman is in full swing, and we just got our first look at the next Caped Crusader. Batman suit reveals don’t come around too often, so Reeves, composer Michael Giacchino, cinematographer Greig Fraser, and the Batman himself, Robert Pattinson, made sure to set the stage accordingly in the reveal tweet below.

Thankfully, this reveal is more than just an image; the clip gives us a sizable, waist-up look at Pattinson’s Batsuit. Though less bulky than Ben Affleck’s version of Batman, this sleeker, metal-looking design is a great peek at what is to come in The Batman. Many have already started comparing the new suit to Marvel’s Netflix version of Daredevil. In short, the former Twilight actor looks appropriately terrifying, and the new taste of the film’s score doesn’t hurt the mood either.

Speaking of the score, Reeve’s later tweeted to confirm that this is in fact a snippet of what Giacchino has been working on for The Batman, promising that the rest will be just as atmospheric.

Other stars lined up to star alongside Pattinson in the film include Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone. Every other actor pinned to join the film has yet to have their costumes revealed, so stay tuned for more surprises in the future.

The Batman premieres in theaters on June 25, 2021.
